Happy Friday!

We had two wonderful days in Kindergarten!  On Thursday we read a story called The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn.  We completed a special project that I hope you saw in your child's take-home folder!  We talked about how the main character, Chester, was feeling on his first day of school.  We also met Mrs. Rensch and Miss Richard at Phy Ed, as well as Mrs. Hollingsworth at Music.

Today we began our alphabet study with the letter Aa.  We read a story about an alligator who was looking for the perfect job.  Have your child tell you what Abby Alligator decided to do!  (She was an author!)

Your child also

  • met their Art teacher, Mrs. Larson
  • enjoyed Friday Fun
  • earned Owl Tickets
    • Students who earn Owl Tickets are showing Safety, Responsibility, and Respect!  After 10 Owl Tickets are earned, students are able to pick a reward such as a small prize, an award from Mrs. Toy, lunch with the school counselor, helping with school videos/announcements, high five line

We had two wonderful days of getting to know one another and I want to thank you for sharing your child with me.  We have a GREAT class and I know this will be year full of friendship and learning!

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Tennis shoes EVERYDAY as the students have PhyEd and recess
  • Water bottles are welcome!  I will allow students to keep their water bottles at school for the week and send them home on Friday for the weekend.
  • Take Home Folders should come to school each day!
Please contact me with any questions!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Back to School

Hello!

We had a great Back to School Night and I was so happy to meet your children!  Thank you for being patient as I talked with the kids...it really is so special for me to make a connection with my students. I understand that this can be an exciting, overwhelming, and scary time (and that's just for the adults ;))!!  I am looking forward to getting to know your child better when we meet on our assessment day!

As always, please let me know if you have any questions. I will have more information for you during assessment days!

Have a great weekend!

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to our class blog! This is a place where you can virtually come into our classroom to see what we're up to!  We will post about special events, class projects, and have a Blogger of the Week (more info to come)!  I hope you find this to be a safe resource for you and your child as I hope to engage students and families in our Kindergarten learning!  Pictures will never be posted without your consent.

There are a few things I would like to try this year in our classroom.  If you're visiting our blog, you might have used a QR code reader!  Your child will be using QR codes in our classroom throughout the school year during reading, math, and science.

We are also fortunate to have an interactive white board in our room as well as a set of iPads.  There will be many opportunities for your child to use technology to enhance their learning and I'm so excited to share our learning with you on a regular basis.  We are all working together to make this a fantastic year for your child!

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.

See you soon!
